VMB 2009/2010 Holiday Party at Jason's
Sorry for the delay in posting...Grad school gets in the way from time to time...

Beer Pong!

Jason takes a shot at Beer Pong

cute little Abbie
Not much mountain biking over here...
At least as far as I've been able to determine. World's tallest building, the Burj.

VMB Trex Trail Build Day
Just a snap or two...I wasn't able to stay very long (had to study for my graduate course). Weather was good...but the deer ticks were out in force.
Kona, Scott's Rhodesian Ridgeback

Donna' making sure I sign the trail log.

Scott, Rob and Roger working with Kona...

Back from the beach....
Wow, was warm here today. Was expecting to get off the plane to freezing weather. A little eye candy for you from my trip to Sanibel Island. Boy do I miss MTB'ing.

New helmet
I had a bunch of miles that were due to expire on my Scandinavian frequent flyer account. So I sprung for a few little X-mas presents for the family and also a new bike helmet. Comes from Germany.
Has two cool features, which are new to me. The strap fastens with an adjustable tongue (see red release button). And the internal head band that is padded has an adjustment feature...you simply turn the clear star wheel to tighten or loosen the fit. Fits my big fat head like a glove.
Cool matte black also.

A great day for trail building at Trex
Had a decent turnout too along with 2 dingos.
Some snaps...

Got in 5 miles at SMB this afternoon...
Finished up just after the rain started coming down. Came across 2 other riders who were still on the mountain when I departed.
I'm still struggling with the climbs...it really is a physical stamina issue for me. Have to take Heidi's advice and train by doing repeated climbs over at Jacobsburg.
The leaves on the rocks didn't help but my new Chunder tires made a world of difference (Thanks Lisa & John @ Cutters). I have them mounted backwards and they are a little slow but traction is awesome.
2 pics from South Mountain Bethlehem 11-Oct
Thanks to Jason for organizing this run. We started with Eric, Derrick W, Warren (Pokey) and someone with a single speed 29'r (Sorry forgot your name). Warren and I took a slower pace as I wasn't really ready for this advanced type of trail. I learned a lot though and kept it upright.
We ran into several others. One group was these two guys from Maryland, up here for the weekend riding Sals and other spots.

Hiked Tinicum today...spotted a lovely little bundle of death!
Actually one of the folks I was hiking with almost stepped on it! Blended in very well with the leaves. All of us were then quite paranoid after this and treaded very carefully. We were hiking down along the river off the regular path.
The little lovely blended quite well.

Cutter's Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting w/ Mayor John Callahan
This was a fun event. I had the pleasure of meeting John and Lisa Ronca - great people and extremely congenial. Sophia and I felt welcome immediately.
Also met our Mayor, John. I like when leaders in our community are excited about entrepreneurs like John and Lisa and events like this. He was very approachable. Not surprised he once worked at Pfizer (where I work).
Some really nice bikes in their shop too...glad it was a special event and I couldn't really shop.
Wishing them the best of luck with the store.
PS: Greg, I got my VMB stickers - thanks!
...on to the pictures!
