West Virginia - Land of the Lost!

VMB Member

June 23 - 26 was my little riding groups annual "Man"cation trip weekend. This year we chose to go to Slatyfork, WV and ride the trails of Pocahontas County and Snowshoe Resort.

Our "little" group actually expanded to 8 guys this year. Jubber, JT, Prince, Fizzy, Mr. Clean (aka Luis), What's His Name(aka Pat), Earl(Jubber's brother from CT) and myself. By the time the trip was over we all had at least 2 or 3 nicknames, due to the hilarity caused by our collective stupidity.

Abbie, Josslin and I spent the weekend at Raystown and all I can say is FAST!!!!

All of you were right! It's so different, but so totally awesome. If Trex can be even remotely similar to Raystown it will be huge for this area.

All Throughout The Kingdom

VMB Member

As you may have read in a few posts I put up last week, I was heading to The Kingdom Trails in VT this past weekend with the Three John's, my neighbor Pat and couple of other terrific guys Josh and Scotty that started riding with us in our little group. All I can say is if you haven't been to the KT's yet, GET THERE!!!. It is really different riding from here, but not in a bad way, but in a "Wow, this is Friggin Cool" way.

Leaves are scary

VMB Member

I rode BC yesterday afternoon and it was like I hadn't ridden in weeks. The leaves were so thick it was like riding through quicksand, draining my legs of life with every stroke. All the rocks and roots that you see every other ride seemed to reach up from under the leafy cover like a fleshy hand escaping from an earthy grave to grab my tires. Sometimes I'd stop dead and sometimes I'd be sent off the trail into the trees. Slick! Like fresh guts sliding across ice! Speed was slow, muscles were tight, adrenaline pumping, it was all about survivial.

Biking milestones!!

We all have days that we can remember on the trail that will forever be singularly important to each of us. Maybe it was the first time you cleaned a rock garden that had always struck fear into you just at the sight, or it may have been that first mud ride, or the simple ride along a rail trail that reminded you of feeling like a kid again.

Knee Rehab Update

VMB Member

Well, it has been 10 weeks since my ACL was reconstructed and I was doing great. I was about 2 weeks ahead of schedule. My PT was getting me ready to start doing a light jog at week 11.

Does anyone else do this???

So, my family is heading down to Collegeville to visit my brother and his family. At the intersection of 662 and 422 in Amity I am behind a Ford Explorer with a Dirt Rag sticker, a Notubes.com sticker and another sticker that I can't remember at the moment but it was one from the mtb world and of course the bike rack on top. I say to Abbie, "hey, another mtb'r is in front of us".

Withdrawal Symptoms

It's been about 9 days now since our computer got zapped by a lightning strike very close to my house. We lost the ability to get on the internet. Plus, since I am done with school for the summer my daily dosage of VMB has been shut off almost entirely.
